The Conscious Leadership and Ethics Summit 2023, which takes place on Thursday (May 11) at the Venue in Melrose Arch, offers a profound new framework for thinking about leadership that speaks to humanising business while still creating profit.
Hosted by Conscious Companies and the Mail & Guardian in partnership with Amgen and Primeserv, the Summit is designed as a transformative force to produce a new kind of conscious, ethical and responsible leader who is open to the heart and soul of man.
This year’s event has garnered some of the world’s most brilliant minds to share their leadership strategies, experiences and insights on consciousness, ethics, morality and transformation in business and society to enable a shift in behaviour and embed ethical, conscious leadership.
Local and global icons, humanitarians and some of the country’s foremost thinkers on consciousness, governance, ethics and wisdom include Imtiaz Sooliman, founder of The Gift of the Givers; Mmusi Maimane, leader of Build One South Africa and Dr Jan Bellermann from Germany as well as the virtual presence of international icon Paul Polman who revolutionised corporate thinking by urging leaders to look for a deeper sense of purpose and a strong sense of serving.
The one-day summit features three panel discussions. These are the Impact of Conscious Leadership, chaired by Pepe Marais, GCO of Joe Public United; Conscience over Compliance– A New Paradigm For Business, chaired by Michael Judin, from Judin and Combrinck Attorneys and AI, Technology and Ethics, chaired by Judge Brian Spilg.
Other speakers include Danny Donkers, Prof. Mervyn King, Bruno Olierhoek, Marc Lubner, Isaac Shongwe, Hoosain Karjieker, Eustace Mashimbye, Dr Kamlen Pillay and Adam Craker, CEO IQbusiness, who is the director of programmes for the day.

The outcome of the Conscious Leadership and Ethics Summit will be a report to President Cyril Ramaphosa to heed the call of transformation and appeal to him to create a new national framework to embed conscious, responsible and ethical leadership in all sectors of government.
